About Us
Originally the business was started in the 1960's, located in the house of Ophthalmologist Dr. W.H.Clarke, where the sight testing was carried out in the dining room (meal times were interesting!) Later, the house was extended to provide a purpose built surgery and a visiting dispensing optician attended to supply spectacles.
In 1985 Paul Clarke took over the dispensing side of the practice, and in September of the same year we moved to our present location in Riverview, Chadwell St. Mary, Essex.
Dr. Clarke retired in 1996, after a long and distinguished career working at Orsett, Oldchurh, and the old Tilbury Hospitals.
We
have three visiting Ophthalmologists who carry out sight testing and
a visiting Contact Lens Practitioner who fits contact lenses. We have
two part time receptionists to deal with phone calls, clerical work...and
making coffee!
As an independent practice we are able to provide a wide range of spectacles and lenses to suit the needs of most people, whether you want budget frames or designer styles, classic or modern, or just unusual! Similarly with spectacle lenses we can supply a range to suit most lifestyles and budgets, as we are not restricted to only one supplier.
